Meet MacMost

For Creator Appreciation Week during Blaugust2023, let me introduce you to MacMost, a website with quick tutorials and full training courses about the Mac operating system and its native apps. It's created by Gary Rosenzweig, who is also a game developer. He's been at it for many years and recently celebrated his 3,000th episode. That's a lot!

I first shared about MacMost a year ago and am still enjoying it today. MacMost publishes new free Mac tutorials daily across several online sites and services; I subscribe to the YouTube channel. If you're looking for something in particular, the website it the best place to look.

What's great about MacMost?

The videos

Gary's videos are simple, short, and to the point. He's able to distill complex Mac app settings and features into easy to understand points, sticking to them without fluff, hyperbole, or rabbit-trailing about whatever. Gary also understands the Mac well enough that he often reveals and explains things about it that I never knew — I am regularly surprised to learn something new.

The website

It's loaded with an impressive amount of content. I've been checking out MacMost for over a year and have not found filler material. Some topics are repeated after much time but are given fresh treatment due to Mac changes that Apple makes. Or Gary simply approaches the same subject from a different viewpoint or context based on viewer or reader feedback. The site is well organized and searchable, helping you find the tips you need.

I'm sure there are other good Mac tutorial sites. But ever since I found MacMost on YouTube, I've been very satisfied with Gary's simple style with robust info and tips, whether I'm learning more about the Mac Finder or the Pages app. I've also benefitted greatly from Gary's teaching on iCloud storage and backup.

For a time, I directly supported MacMost through its Patreon campaign; I plan to do that again soon. There are well over 1,000 other supporters; you can join too. If you have a Mac, I highly recommend you give MacMost a chance. You'll likely learn a new thing or two.
