OK, so maybe not really an oops. I was planning to get a third guinea pig eventually. I just wasn't planning to do it a week after I bought my second piggy, which was six days after I got my first piggy. But it was good timing.
Let me introduce you to Butters. He's a light golden cream color Guinea Pig with a bit of white on him. Butters is short for all-the-butters: butterscotch, buttercup, buttercream, peanut-butter. He's a baby and still somewhat in shock of being displaced and meeting so many new people today. Tomorrow he will slowly move into the habitat with the two other piggies.
So I went ahead and bought him today because he's the same age as the other two piggies I just got; we don't want to introduce a baby into a home with adult Guinea Pigs. Also, he's a pretty color that we didn't have, and he would be sold quickly at the local pet store otherwise. I'd miss a chance to get him while I could. And frankly, after looking at him and holding him in the store, I didn't want to leave him behind.
My purpose at the pet store was to check on supplies for the piggies we already had; I bought two non-tip bowls that were much needed. And, well, yes, I also wanted to look at the Guinea Pigs to see if they had any new cool ones.
I should not go to pet stores and look at Guinea Pigs anymore. (I still want a Lilac color piggy.)
Today was also a good day for Guinea Pigs because my most recent order from GuineaDad arrived this morning. It's the 2x4 cage liner with orange pocket. Yeah! Oh, don't tell anyone. But I also ordered another GuineaDad product today. It's the balcony for my cage; it has a ramp the piggies can race up!
By the way, a milestone occurred three times today. Our first piggy, Bon-Bon, started squeaking (almost wheeking!) when he heard me get the treats out to feed them! Love it!
Yes. I'm a GuineaDad. I love my little piggies. I'm still learning to be extra patient and gentle with them, and I look forward to caring for them for years to come. So, I now have three Guinea Pigs: Bon-Bon, Truffles, and Butters.
